Aisha Jaffar

My primary medium is paint, but I rarely stay still in it — I play with resin and clay, build sculptures and three-dimensional works, and let each material teach me something the last one couldn’t. My thesis, Star, Dust, is rooted in the overview effect: that shift in perspective astronauts describe when they see the Earth from space and feel, all at once, how fragile and connected everything is.

Throughout the work I weave Arabic calligraphy and Islamic reference into the visual language of outer space — borders dissolve, scale humbles, and we are reminded that we are all, quite literally, made of stardust.
